2013-04-15 15:55

On April 15, 2013, Premier Li Keqiang met with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov at the Great Hall of the People.

Li said Sino-Russian comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation has become mature and solid. He urged both sides to implement the consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries, translate the advantages of high-level political relations into results of broader pragmatic cooperation and create more tangible benefits for both peoples.

Li pointed out that as China and Russia are each other's largest neighbors and are both fast-growing emerging economies, there are unparalleled conditions for both sides to deepen cooperation, which is also their common aspiration. He said that conditions have ripened for carrying out "better, faster and deeper" economic cooperation between China and Russia. The two countries should seize the opportunity to provide a more open, convenient and regulated environment for investment and give play to their respective advantages in terms of resources, market, technology and fund in order to double or even quadruple bilateral trade, he said. Li called for the two countries to raise the quality of cooperation by deepening investment cooperation, conducting joint research and manufacturing projects, as well as promoting large-scale cooperative projects of strategic importance so as to deepen bilateral cooperation and contribute to common prosperity of the two countries.

Shuvalov said the outcome of President Xi Jinping's visit to Russia has injected a strong impetus to deepening pragmatic cooperation between the two countries. Russia is willing to work with China to promote the Russian-Chinese trade and investment cooperation. Russia welcomes investment from Chinese companies and is willing to provide a favorable environment in this area.
