In the morning of May 24, 2013, Premier Li Keqiang, who is visiting Switzerland, went on a tour to Guldenberg family farm located at the suburb of Zurich.

Richly decorated and awash in the fresh smell of the spring soil, the Gultenberg family farm awaited the Chinese guests. When Li Keqiang arrived, he was welcomed by folk songs and traditional alphorns music performed by the locals, all in their traditional costumes. Mr. and Mrs. Lienhard, the owner of the farm, greeted Chinese Premier at the gate.

Guldenberg family farm was started by the Lienhard family since 1934. The farm covers around 40 hectares and runs milk cow husbandry, planting, and rough processing of agricultural products.

Accompanied by Johann Schneider-Ammann, member of the Swiss Federal Council and head of Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, Li Keqiang toured around the farm. He showed great interest in the dairy shed, milk production facilities and fruit product processing facilities. He inquired about the farm's operation of farming, planting as well as the types and breeds of its cows and plants. When informed that the farm is run by only six people, Li Keqiang said that, to improve efficiency and competitiveness, agriculture and husbandry have to adopt scale and intensive operations. As a trend in agricultural modernization, family farms and specialized cooperation are more and more adopted. When promoting agricultural modernization in China, it should give thought to the national conditions, and also learn from the advanced experience and examples of other countries.

Then at the sitting room, Li Keqiang had a tea with the farm owner and local officials. The owner presented Li Keqiang with home-made bread, cheese and fruit juice. Tasting the food, Li asked about local agriculture and husbandry. He noted that, Switzerland is a country with advanced agriculture. It attaches great importance to food safety and environmental protection, which are the lifeblood of agriculture. China is a big country of agriculture. It is an major strategic task of China to transform the traditional way and to develop the modern agriculture. And the key for it is to increase the overall productivity of the agriculture, to raise the quality of agricultural products and farmers' income, to ensure that people can have safe food. Switzerland has rich agricultural resources and advanced technologies and China has a market with huge potential. Given the high complementariness, the two countries can absolutely further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in agriculture and fully tap the potential, so as to realize the sustainable development of agriculture and bring real benefits to the two peoples.
